IMPROVING ELECTRIC VEHICLE LITERACY, KOLEKSI EQUIPS MEMBERS WITH SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT STRATEGY TO REDUCE DISINFORMATION AND PUBLIC DOUBT
By: Super Admin
News ReleaseJAKARTA – Electric vehicle (EV) adoption in Indonesia continues to grow alongside public awareness of greenhouse gas emissions. Nevertheless, the digital ecosystem still shows a sharp polarization of opinion on automotive electrification. To address this information gap, the Indonesian Electric Car Community (KOLEKSI) held a social media workshop for its members at Stroom Coffeé, PLN UP3 Bulungan, South Jakarta, on Sunday (26/7).
Two automotive content creators delivered the material: Jason Andikha from Obsessed To Wheels (OTW) media and Febry Arta from Halotomotif.
Two recent studies of public conversations on social media show that perceptions of price, charging infrastructure, and incentive policies still heavily influence the issue of electric vehicles in Indonesia. The 2026 JUTIF study found that 63.3% of YouTube comments on EV incentives were negative, mainly due to concerns about prices, limited charging infrastructure, and perceived unfairness in subsidies. Meanwhile, the SYNCHRONOUS 2025 study of 23,031 tweets found that public opinion on X/Twitter tended to be more positive, but the conversation remained centered on prices, infrastructure, subsidies, taxes, and import regulations.
The Kompas R&D survey also found a gap in policy understanding. As many as 50 percent of respondents did not know that the government could require companies to produce cleaner vehicles. As many as 66.8 percent did not know that regulations could assign vehicle companies some responsibility for pollution control.
This indicates an urgent need for stakeholders to take over the public narrative through measurable education.
As an entity that oversees EV users and owners, KOLEKSI took the initiative to shift its members' social media posture from mere consumers to active educators and frontline disseminators of factual information.
This one-day workshop focuses on building members' technical and strategic capacity to produce digital campaigns. The training curriculum is designed to be practical and relevant to user mobility, with the entire content production process, from photo and video capture techniques to editing and publication, executed exclusively using mobile phones (smartphones).
Beyond the technical aspects, the material also dissected the anatomy of social media management. KOLEKSI members were equipped with tactics to create effective content for campaigning on the environmental benefits of EVs, manage account performance, and monitor and mitigate negative sentiments circulating in the community. Each theory session was reinforced through on-site practice and closed with an evaluation session to measure improvements in participants' competencies.
"Through this standardization of digital literacy skills, KOLEKSI projects that its members can distribute more structured and credible educational content. Organic campaigns voiced directly by end-users are expected to be able to balance public discourse, reduce negative sentiments, and ultimately accelerate society's transition to renewable energy," said Arwani Hidayat, Chairman of KOLEKSI.
