Inter-Island E-Mobility "No Worry" Campaign, KOLEKSI Ready to Hold Jakarta-Lampung Independence Tour

  • The Indonesian Electric Car Community (KOLEKSI) held the "Jakarta-Lampung Independence Tour," themed "Silent Across the Strait," on August 15-17, 2026, coinciding with KOLEKSI's 5th anniversary and the Republic of Indonesia's 81st Independence Day.

  • This trip also aims to test and prove the reliability of SPKLU facilities on inter-island routes, as well as campaign for long-distance travel with EVs that are completely worry-free.

  • Prioritizing the spirit of "independence from burdening the state budget,, the campaign highlights how EVs directly help reduce the burden of fuel subsidies.

  • "Silent Across The Strait" emphasizes that inter-island crossings using EVs are very safe and well accommodated (no worries about e-mobility between islands).

JAKARTA, August 14, 2026 – To commemorate the 81st Independence Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia and celebrate its 5th anniversary, the Indonesian Electric Car Community (KOLEKSI) is preparing to hold a large-scale, long-distance trip titled "Jakarta-Lampung Independence Turing: Silent Across The Strait". Taking place from August 15 to 17, 2026, the event will be attended by at least 23 electric cars (EVs) from various manufacturers.

As an official community under the auspices of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI), KOLEKSI designed this tour not just as a celebration agenda, but as a demonstration movement. This convoy of dozens of EVs aims to raise awareness of the EV ecosystem's readiness and supporting facilities, especially Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU), along the Jakarta, Banten, and Lampung routes.

KOLESI Chairman Arwani Hidayat explained that this year's independence momentum aligns with the government's energy transition vision. “We bring three spirits of 'independence' in this tour. First, freedom from anxiety when traveling long distances to any area because SPKLU infrastructure is now adequate and reliable. Second, freedom to cross between islands, proving that e-mobility is no longer limited to one land. Most crucially, this tangibly demonstrates independence without burdening the state budget. By using EVs, we contribute directly to reducing dependence on fuel," said Arwani Hidayat.

During the trip, the KOLEKSI group will record and collect data on the availability and reliability of SPKLU across the Jakarta-Merak Toll Road and the Lampung section of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road. The SPKLU capacity to be tested varies widely, ranging from 30 kW to an Ultra-Fast Charging device with a capacity of 200 kW. KOLEKSI will submit the recording results directly to the relevant parties for follow-up.

In addition to testing the recharging infrastructure, KOLEKSI will also educate the public regarding the ethics of using SPKLU. The campaign "Smart and Wise in Using SPKLU" will be promoted to discourage bad habits, such as using the SPKLU area as a parking lot or not moving the vehicle after the battery is fully charged.

Test the Smooth Inter-Island Crossing for EVs

For inter-island mobility, this electric car convoy will also test smooth, safe crossings across the Sunda Strait using the Executive Ferry facility on the Merak-Bakauheni route. This is expected to help dispel public concerns about the safety of carrying electric vehicles into the crossing.

"Through the Silent Across The Strait tour, we want the wider community to see firsthand that the electric vehicle ecosystem from upstream to downstream has been well formed. The Jakarta-Lampung trip with dozens of electric cars can now be done without any doubt at all," added Danny Siwu, as Chairman of the Turing Committee.

The series of events in Lampung will be filled with various activities, ranging from enjoying environment-based natural tourism (green tourism), the release of fish seeds on Pahawang Island, and the Gala Dinner celebrating the 5th Anniversary of KOLEKSI, to the culmination of participating in the 81st Independence Day Flag Ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia in Bandar Lampung on August 17, 2026.
